Our statement of values

I am Black/Indigenous/a person of colour, and I am committed to anti-oppressive values in my practice.

My values are pro-queer, pro-trans, pro-sex worker, pro-Black, pro-Indigenous, and anti-colonial.

I actively work to disrupt power in the therapy room, and to be responsible and accountable to the communities I serve.

Stories from other therapists

I’ve had the privilege of calling in clients from the Healing in Colour directory early in my private practice. Not one did the directory contribute largely to the growth of my practice but connected folk that were seeking exactly what I had to offer. From a community perspective, it has been a wonderful resource to direct folk for further services and referrals. Thank you Healing in Colour for creating a well-needed QTBIPOC resource.

Michelle Wing, RSW MSW RCC

Being part of Healing in Colour has been deeply meaningful to me as a woman of Indian and mixed European ancestry committed to anti-oppressive practice. The directory has connected me with clients from racialized communities who are seeking therapists who understand the intersection of racial trauma, identity, and healing. I deeply appreciate being part of a platform that centers the needs of BIPOC folks and makes culturally-responsive therapy more accessible.

Yassie Pirani, MSW RSW RCC

I started my independent practice in 2020 as a Black Queer therapist  looking to support members of my community. Without a doubt Healing in Colour has been the catalyst to my practice growing the way it has over the last 2 years. Healing in Colour has been my primary source of advertising and is the only therapist directory that I am connected to. Healing in Colour serves as an inherent virtual safe and brave space for potential clients to search for the therapists of colour who practice from an anti-oppressive perspective. The mission and values of Healing in Colour are exactly in alignment with how I practice as a therapist. I could not have been more grateful and happy to have found a resource like this to be a part of-
